When Noah’s Ark arrived in Calder Vale for the village’s Children’s Festival a fun day out was guaranteed.

An animal magic theme transformed the Wyre village with parade participants from the local school ranging from pre-school monkeys to Year five turtles and a top class Noah.

Mini PC Stanley Pickard and Lancashire Constabulary’s Sgt Danielle Freaney led the colourful procession accompanied by Pilling Jubilee Brass Band.

Gail Myerscough, former Calder Vale Queen 1977, crowned the new Queen - her niece Caitlin Myerscough, who was accompanied by her retinue Daisy and Olive Wrathall and Scarlett Mason.

Retiring Queen Jennifer Miller’s was accompanied by a retinue of Freya Marsh, Francesca

Gordon and Eleanor Mason.

Later the village green was the venue for lunch, children’s races and a display by Thomas Bounce from TV’s “Britain’s Got Talent”.
