OVER Wyre readers are saying farewell this week to popular Knott End library boss Anne Errington, who leaves her job on Saturday.

Anne, 63, who lives near Preston, has worked at the library for the past 19 years. She said: “I have loved being here but I feel the time is right for me to move on. I will be keeping an eye on the library and hope that whoever gets my job retains the community spirit. Joan Baines and Liz Connolly have been fantastic work colleagues.”

Among her achievements she cites getting the library involved in the community and helping to set up a library garden.

She said: “It has gone from being scrubby, muddy grass to a place where people can enjoy the sunshine and the flowers. The one thing I will miss about the job is the people, the friends I have made. I treasure the time they take to come into the library and are interested in what and how we are all doing. ”

On Friday, July 29, friends are invited to coffee and biscuits at the library.

l Anne Errington will be the topic of a Courier profile next month.
