Family-run garden centre Barton Grange, near Garstang, has been awarded the Best Garden Centre in the North West for a record-breaking fourth year in a row.

No other garden centre has ever won the regional title for four years running. Barton Grange will now compete for a fourth UK title in the national Garden Centre Association competition, which it has won for the past three years.

The Association also highly commended Barton Grange for its catering facilities, outdoor leisure departments and outside plant area in its audit taken earlier this year.

Centres are judged on everything from their car park to the cakes in the restaurant.

Managing Director Guy Topping said: “We’re all really delighted, it’s another great result. We can only achieve this through a lot of hard work and dedication from a great team of staff. I’m very proud of all of each and every one of them.”

The centre on Garstang Road at Brock opened on its present site in March 2008 and formerly adjoined Barton Grange Hotel.

The Barton Grange Group, which now includes a hotel, a marina, three large plant nurseries and a landscaping business, dates back to 1945 when Mr and Mrs Edward Topping bought a small manor house on the A6 at Barton with plans to turn it into a hotel.
