The combined Garstang and Preston choirs will join together again to perform their popular concert in the town for the ninth year running in aid of brittle bone research.

The concert is part of an ongoing series of events organised by the Longridge brittle Bone Society.

Four Lancashire comedians – Steve Haze, Harry Bristow, compere Russell Bland and top-of-the-bill Jimmy “O” – brought comedy sunshine into the Longridge Sports and Social Club recently.

Along with a very well supported raffle, the sum of £372 was raised and chairman Gertie Farmery thanked all four artistes, the committee of the club, all the helpers, plus everyone who went along to support the evening.

The next event for this special cause will be the June Baker Concert, on Saturday May 7 at 7.30pm in Longridge Civic Hall, featuring the combined Garstang and Preston choirs.

It will be a ‘Welcome to Spring’ evening with a selection of timeless favourites, songs from the shows, some comedy, a raffle and bar.

Tickets at £5 include tea and bisuits and are available from the Farmerys on 01772 784919, the Post Office and the Old Station.

The Longridge branch was formed in January 1973, Gertie being a founder member.

It celebrated 40 years in January 2013 having raised just over £100,000 during that period, with a further £13,900 up to March 2015,
