Two new police officers have been welcomed on to the Longridge and Ribble Valley “beat”.

They are Ribble Valley Crime Co-ordinator Sgt Peter Moore and Ribble Valley Insp Graham Lister.

Sgt Moore (pictured) has served 24 years with Lancashire police and has worked in Rossendale, Darwen, Blackburn and Hyndburn. He said: “I have always worked in uniform and always been on the ‘front line’ in both response roles and on specialist departments. I am enjoying my new role working in the Ribble Valley, I will be splitting my time between being the crime co-ordinator for the Ribble Valley and the neighbourhood sergeant responsible for Longridge.”

Insp Lister, 48, joined the police in 1988 and has spent all his service policing communities across East Lancashire. He has worked in various roles including geographic response, neighbourhood policing and the burglary team. He joined the operations support unit in May 2000 and was involved in the policing operation following the Burnley disorder. He spent two years helping to keep football spectators safe at Burnley Football Club during which he secured 70 football banning orders. He then worked as an inspector for Hyndburn before moving to the Ribble Valley with responsibility for the Clitheroe, Whalley, Langho, Read, Mellor and Longridge areas.

He lives locally and is looking forward to the new challenge and using his extensive policing experience and knowledge of the area to further reduce crime.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined the policing team in the Ribble Valley and am looking forward to working with partners and local residents. The Ribble Valley is one of the safest places to live in the country and it will be my firm intention to make sure it stays that way.

“Over the last few years crime has reduced significantly and my focus will be to keep crime low whilst continuing the fantastic work carried out by Insp Saville.”
