WYRE Council is blowing its own trumpet - after releasing results of a survey which it says shows how satisfied local residents are with life in the locality.

Street cleaning, waste and recycling collections and parks and open spaces are the services residents are most satisfied with. An overwhelming majority of people replying think Wyre is a safe place to live.

The biennial Life In Wyre survey documents residents’ thoughts about their local areas and the services provided by the council. It will be discussed at the next meeting of Wyre’s Cabinet on January 16.

Key findings include:

l 84 per cent of residents said they are satisfied with the area they live in.

l 99per cent stated they feel safe in their local area during the day.

l 81 per cent feel safe at night, an increase of 34 per cent from the last survey.

Neighbourhood Lead Members, established as part of the council’s Shaping Your Neighbourhood initiative, will ensure the data is taken into account in determining local priorities.
