Physiotherapist and pilates instructor Lynley Eason’s set herself and pupils a Red Nose Day challenge with a difference - the perfect Plank challenge.

The co-owner of Garstang Physiotherapy Clinic asked her pilates students “How long can YOU hold a Plank?” - the plank being a particular pose/position where the body is supported using core strength.

Whilst our photos showing Lynley balancing a plank full of red noses most definitely does not feature the plank in question - the other photo shows Lynley adopting the ideal strength and stamina testing position.

Class members competed sportingly, with a bottle of wine going to the individual achieving the longest plank time. The record for a male class participant was 8 minutes, with the female runner-up achieving 5 minutes and 3 seconds.

Lynley was filmed doing her own plank challenge and numerous visitors to the clinic guessed at how long Lynley would be able to hold the plank for. The provider of the best guess - the correct answer was 3 minutes and 21 seconds - also won a bottle of wine.

In all a grand total of £316.63p was raised for Comic Relief. But alas nobody beat the world record currently held by a Chinese policeman at a daunting four hours and 26 minutes.
