A PENSIONER had to be airlifted to hospital after falling into the River Wyre at Garstang.

The North West Air Ambulance and Bowland Mountain Rescue Team were called to the aqueduct over the River Wyre near to Garstang Golf Course and St Thomas CE Primary School at around 4pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The 65-year-old man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where it is understood he is being treated for hypothermia.
