Meet the new rural PCSO

POLICE community support officer Ashley Lawton originally saw his job as a stepping stone to becoming a police officer.

But the 29-year-old so enjoys his job working and helping people in the community, he wants to stay a PCSO.

PCSO Lawton is the latest face to join Broughton police station from where he will working in the rural locality north of Preston.

He has just spent the past seven years working as a PCSO in Ribbleton, but felt ready for a change and new challenge and successfully applied for the Broughton post.

He is now looking forward to the new challenge, finding his feet and getting to know residents and the schools.

“I like what I am doing. Being a PCSO is more about helping people and dealing with community issues. I enjoy helping the public,” said the keen sportsman, who hails from Garstang.

As to his new job, he added: “At the moment I don’t know what to expect to be honest. It is very different from Ribbleton. It is a whole new challenge and style to me. I am just settling in at the moment.”
