PLANS for the Fairtrade in Garstang centre (FIG) at the old Discovery centre are carrying on apace, despite disappointment among supporters at delays in the opening.
The man behind the proposal, Fairtrade campaigner Bruce Crowther said this week the opening date had now been pencilled in for Monday, November 21, after various delays.
Mr Crowther also confirmed that woman who had been planning to manage the cafe area had given backword, and the cafe manager’s job was now being advertised.
Mr Crowther has arranged the lease of the building with its owner, Wyre Council.
Earlier this year there was opposition in the town to the cafe part of the proposal, but the scheme was backed by both Garstang Town and Wyre Council.
