Do you know someone young who has gone that extra mile to help their community, excelled or coped with extraordinary circumstances?

If so Garstang town councillor Lynn Harter wants to hear from you.

Nominees are now being invited for the Carrs Junior Garstang Citizen of the Year Award for those aged five to 11 and the Lady Atkins Senior Garstang Citizen of the Year Award for ages 12 to 18.

Coun Harter is inviting people to send in the name, age and contact details of those worthy of the awards, along with the reason for making the nomination.

The nominees will be judged by an independent panel and the winners will be announced at the Youth Mayor Making ceremony on Thursday, October 16.

You can send nominations to lynn@lynnharter.orangehome.co.uk or post to town clerk Edwina Parry, Room G17, Garstang Business and Community Centre, High Street, Garstang, PR3 1EB, or send via email to garstangtc@btinternet.com

Last year the Junior Citizen of the Year Award was won by youth councillor Oliver Atkinson who commented: “For me it’s about making a difference and I enjoy getting involved and seeing things get better and better.”

The Senior Citizen of the Year trophy went to Garstang Youth Mayor Louise McCarthy.
