Fingers are being crossed as Garstang’s Bloomers await the outcome of their bid to win the top award at the Britain In Bloom finals.
Garstang In Bloom chairman Norah Hoyles will lead a delegation, including Coun Peter Murphy, chairman of Wyre’s Britain in Bloom committee, to Cleethorpes on October 12 for the announcement of the national results.
Norah said: “We have won gold in the national finals for several years, but we haven’t been overall champions and fingers crossed we hope to achieve that this year.”
The morning after the awards there is a Judges’ Surgery where contestants are given feedback on their entry - very useful, says Norah, for planning next year’s entry.
This year the Bloom team were proud of their sustainable beds - filed with perennial palnts which attracted bees and insects aplenty.
Meanwhile, it will be back to the seaside again later in the month. On October 24 the results of the North West In Bloom contest 2013 will be announced at Southport. The day before three finalists in the Community In Bloom section, the boating community at The Tithebarn,The Moorings and Stransdale Close will learn how they fared.
