THERE is nothing like a bit of sibling rivalry, but two brothers from Bilsborrow teamed up for a marathon challenge, crossing the finishing line in the exact same time.
Dedicated runners John Johnson, 37, and younger brother David, 34, ran a gruelling 26.2 mile seaside route for the Blackpool Marathon, both finishing in the top 10 in the time of 2 hours 50 minutes.
The pair, who have four other brothers, partnered up for the run as a “warm up” for the UK Ironman challenge, which takes place in July.
John said: “ David always wanted to run sub three hours and we were confident we would do this, as we were hitting it in training.
“I live near Chorley now, so use Winter Hill and the surrounding peaks for training.
“My mum counted us in at fourth/fifth place in 2 hours 50 minutes, only six minutes behind the winner.”
Former professional rugby player David, travelled from his home in London for the event, which he ran in aid of children’s charity SPARK.
The dad-of-three has previously run the London and New York marathons.
Dad-of-one John, who runs his own software company and has competed in two Ironman events, ran in support of World Horse Welfare.
