Fundraisers for Lancashire children’s hospice Derian House were given a tour of the House of Commons by Wyre MP Ben Wallace.

The women, who all live at Wyre Vale Park and Acresfield, Cabus, so impressed the MP with their on-going fundraising that he invited them to Parliament for a tour and to watch a debate.

The group has raised more than £6,000 for the hospice over the past two years.

One of the most popular fundraisers was a “calendar girls” venture, in which the clothed models enacted humorous scenes depicting
retirement life on home parks.

The calendar was sponsored by park home owners Mike and Julie Ward.

The women who attended were Barbara Heywood and Ruth Hind, Maureen Gornall and Brenda Walker.

Wyrevale and Acresfield women also recently took part in a sponsored walk over Morecambe Bay. The event raised £500.

They were joined by Mrs Ward and her son, Alex, who will be joining the home park business next year after completing his GCSEs.
