POLICE are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man who is wanted in connection with a number of fraud offences in Garstang and across the country.

Barry Hayward, 36, formally of Cairnwell Road, Chadderton, Oldham has been wanted since March 2011 in connection with a fraudulent purchase of £4,000 worth of computer equipment from an electrical shop in Garstang.

Police also want to speak with him about a second fraud in March 2011 whereby computer products were advertised for sale on a website and an order to the value of £680 was taken and not delivered. The company was registered to an address on Creamery Industrial estate at Barnacre.

Earlier, in November 2010, 70 laptop computers worth £6,500 were purchased from a company in Pilling but no payment was made. Police would also like to speak with Hayward in connection with this offence as well.

Hayward also uses the names Jamie Desouza and Barry David Heywood and has connections to Lancashire, Manchester and Derbyshire. He is also known to drive a silver Vauxhall Astra.

He is also wanted by GMP for breach of a court order and fraud in August 2011, in addition to a serious assault on March 25, 2011.

A Lancashire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We are very keen to trace Barry Hayward and would appeal to anybody who may know of his whereabouts or has had any contact with him recently to contact police.

“Any information could be crucial and so I would urge people to be vigilant and report any sightings to us.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
