The new Garstang Post Office has opened its doors after an extensive refurbishment.

Owners Anita and Patel, who run the High Street store, welcomed a host of dignitaries including Garstang Mayor Chris Ryan and County Councillor Sandra Perkins for the unveiling of the revamped store.

Mr and Mrs Patel have worked around the clock to modernise the Post Office and install new services for local customers.

The open-plan branch now offers extended opening hours and services from postage to dry cleaning. Anita Patel said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to open the modernised branch and I am very pleased to be officially launching it for the community. I hope our customers like their new Post Office and I’d like to thank Councillor Ryan and Councillor Perkins for joining us for the opening.”

The modernised lay-out includes three counter positions and opening hours are now Monday to Saturday 9am - 5.30pm.

Coun Chris Ryan said: “The Post Office is vital to the community in Garstang and I’m sure the new improved office and longer opening hours will be warmly welcomed.”

Post Office senior stakeholder manager Richard Hall said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents and I am confident a new modern Post Office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
