Hundreds of Garstang residents staged a protest on Saturday against the controversial potential plans to develop the town’s community centre and its car park.

Armed with placards and dressed in red, they gathered at the Millennium Green to make their feelings known.

Organised by group Action Garstang, it was to oppose the proposed redevelopment of Garstang Community and Business Centre into 30 retirement flats and a supermarket.

The town centre site would also see a reduction in car parking after a Blackpool-based developer was thought to have bid £1.6m for the Wyre Council owned site.
