Porsche drivers taking part in a charity tour have clocked up a new fundraising record.

A pot of £3,000 has been raised in support of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation after 85 members of the Lancashire & Cumbria Region of the Porsche GB Club took part in the sixth scenic rally in Garstang.

Club drivers nicknamed ‘Porkers’ travelled cross country to the market town for the drive from the Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club through the Trough of Bowland to Burnley and back.

Donations were made by all drivers and with an additional raffle funds more than doubled last year’s amount

The club’s Regional Organiser David Baker said: “I would like to thank everyone who participated for their generosity and for making this year’s

event such an enjoyable one. I would also like to thank those who turned out at Garstang Golf Club to wave us off and all those who came to chat to us at Towneley Hall, where we made a stop before the return leg.”

In batches of five at a time, the cars were flagged off by Wyre mayor Coun Tom Balmain and Young Mayor Oliver Atkinson.

Participants finished the day with a buffet and quiz
