Missed chances proved costly for the Riversiders on Saturday with former Garstang midfielder Danny Whittaker heading home to help seal the points for Norcoss and Warbreck .

Garstang manager Iain Swan welcomed signings, former Morecambe striker Aran Taylor and Crewe Alexandra junior Max Owen, to help strengthen the squad with Crossley returning to the starting line-up.

Norcross were gifted an early opportunity with Sirorsom free to take his shot, well saved by Brindle.

A chance soon followed at the other end with Norcross’ Rossall heading away a dangerous cross by Melling.

On 20 minutes Pett headed a Whittaker corner over the bar, again letting Garstang off the hook.

Chances came and went at both ends. There was another opportunity for Garstang when an Ollett header was cleared off the line.

Every ball had been well contested by both teams but it was Poole who put the visitors in the lead on the 40th minute when he converted a perfect cross by Dodd.

Norcross hit back immediately, unlucky to be on level terms when Brindle had to be at his best to keep out a firm Hancock strike.

It should have been 0-2 on 52 minutes when Ollett headed against the post with the goal at his mercy. The miss proved costly when first Eastwood punished a sleepy Garstang defence to make it 1-1, then within minutes former Garstang midfielder Danny Whittaker headed his team in front.

New signing Taylor and Louth replaced Ollett and Dodd in the 66th minute but Swan was forced to making another change, Poole limping off to be replaced by Owen.

Garstang seemed to be outnumbered at the back when Norcross substitute Howard made the score 3-1.

Crossley forced the home keeper into a full-length save on 75 minutes but it was Melling who pulled another goal back by way of a deflection but that was as much as Garstang could do to overcome the deficit.
