THE Sainsbury’s Sports Relief Mile in Pilling takes place this Sunday, March 25.
Lots of local people have already signed up, but there is still time to bag your place in the event by logging on to www.sport relief.com
Setting off from Pilling St Johns Primary School at 10am, the runners will go on routes through the village. All the money raised will help people living tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Pilling St John’s headteacher Mrs Pauline Tate said: “The Pilling Mile is set to be an amazing event. It’s fantastic that so many people are gathering together to show their support for Sport Relief 2012.
“But we want this to be the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile yet – so raise your game, enter the Pilling Mile today and join the rest of the nation to raise plenty of cash for an incredible cause.”
The school band will be playing as the runners set off and participants can look forward to a steaming mug of Fairtrade hot chocolate on their return, having taken in the sights of the village.
Participants can choose their own distance – from one, three or six miles – and can complete the course in any way they fancy.
