Longridge Library celebrated Lancashire Day with a feast of Lancashire cheese.

Nearly 200 people were invited to sample cheeses donated by the many cheesemakers from the Longridge area, while Sainsbury’s donated cheese crackers and chutneys.

County Coun David Smith, lead member for community services, said: “We are always looking for new ideas to bring our libraries closer to the community and the staff at Longridge came up with a real winner.

“What better way to celebrate Lancashire Day than to offer our famous local cheeses? Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the chance to sample them and perhaps discover new favourites.”

Cheesemakers taking part were Butlers, Leagram Dairy, Singletons, Sandhams, Shorrocks, and Kirkham’s.
