A young Garstang fundraiser pulled on her running shoes and joined over 2000 children for the Bupa Manchester Mini Great Run.

Lucy Spencer, 7, has raised over £700 from taking part in the 2K run, which she has donated to help young patients at Manchester Royal Children’s Hospital.

The Garstang St Thomas CE Primary School pupil also organised a cake sale at school to help boost funds for the cause.

Lucy’s mum Catherine Moffat said: “We are extremely proud of Lucy’s determination and motivation to help sick children.

“And we would like to thank all the staff at St Thomas’s, friends and family for all their support and donations.

“Well done Lucy.”

The race was held at Heaton Park in Manchester.
