Lovers of landscape and poetry have the perfect opportunity to enjoy both in the Forest of Bowland – with a walk which combines the two.

Local poet William Michael Neary will lead a walk from Chipping this Saturday, April 13, as part of the Festival Bowland programme.

During the walk, he will recite a selection of his verses, including “A Land for Your Dreams”, a poem in praise of Bowland’s special qualities.

The three-mile route will take in footpaths north of the village, highlighting the area’s farming tradition and beauty.

Author of a collection of poems entitled “My Way Home to Chippin’”, Michael knows the area well and is keen to share his love of this part of Lancashire with others.

The walk begins at 10am and will last two and a half hours.

Booking is essential and the entry cost of £3 (children free) will be donated to Champion Bowland, a fund which helps to support projects within the AONB.

To book, call the Forest of Bowland AONB office on 01200 448000 or email sandra. silk@lancashire.gov.uk.
