Two intrepid teachers from Garstang Community Academy have tackled the Tough Mudder challenge – and vowed to go back next year.

Miss Oliver and Miss Shepherd raised more than £400 for Cancer Research and Help For Heroes when they took part in the endurance event in Cheshire.

Tough Mudder sees part-icipants attempting a 10 to 12 mile-long military-style obstacle course.

Designed and created by British Special Forces to test mental as well as physical strength, it features obstacles playing on common human fears including fire, water, electricity and heights.

Teamwork is essential, camaraderie valued, with obstacles designed to encourage group participation. Those taking part have to commit to helping others complete the course.
