Leyland Albion Yth 4

Garstang Yth 2

Garstang travelled to Worden Park to take on table-topping Leyland Albion, their sixth consecutive away game.

With Hall and Hanley injured and a few late withdrawals, the squad was depleted but certainly strong enough to get a positive result.

The home side took an early lead when indecision at the back gifted the centre-forward a tap in.

Garstang fought their way back into the game with Swale running the midfield and Hodson raiding down the right.

Several decent chances were created but not taken.

It was from one of these attacks that the home side doubled their lead.

A ball into the Albion box was cleared but instead of putting the ball back into the box an attempted pass to keeper Jones went straight to the centre forward who gratefully accepted and stroked home 2-0.

Another individual error in the box gave the home side a half-time lead of 3-0 and Garstang had gifted all three.

A change was made at half time, Ball replacing Murphy on the left.

After a fairly even 15 minutes a quick breakaway by the home side and a neat finish put the game beyond reach.

Garstang, to their credit, didn’t give up.

Swale was forced off with a dead leg, Bisby replaced him and joined Assalone up front.

Finally Garstang got a reward for their efforts when Bisby slotted home after good work by Assalone and Ball.

A few minutes later the away side got a second as good pressure caused a mistake and Bisby was on hand to shoot home.

Garstang were living dangerously at the back with at least four good chances going begging before the referee blew for full time.

Garstang: J Jones, D Hodson, A Dallas, C Hancox, A Murphy, A Swale, H Turner, R Mower, A Ball, S Mclwaine, L Assalone, J Bisby, and C Spence.
