A Myerscough College motorsport student has received one of the highest accolades from the Institute of Advanced Motorists for his outstanding driving skills.

Elliott Fitchie achieved a ‘first’ pass for the Skill for Life advanced driving course,

He said:“Ever since passing my basic driving test I’ve wanted to do the advanced driving course and this was a 21st birthday present. It’s made me more aware and I feel I’m a better, safer driver now.”

Now Elliott’s success has been hailed as a shining example of how young drivers can gain more road sense and, maybe, even cut their insurance premiums.

Elliott, who has a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Motorsport from Myersccough, took his skills course with Chorley Advanced Motorists.

Julie Whitworth, senior observer with Chorley Advanced Motorists, said: “The advanced driving course goes through the police advanced driving techniques and equips people of all ages to become better, more observant, safer drivers.”
