Thanks to a group of volunteers from the village, Dolphinholme now has some of the fastest broadband in the UK.

The volunteers have been working as part of B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North).

They raised their own funds without government help and dug their own trenches across the surrounding fields, laying the cables and connecting the community’s house one by one, which meant broadband could be accessible for everyone.

The Dolphinholme B4RN Action Group held a ‘bring your own device’ event where people could try out the super-fast connection and then meet the volunteers who made this possible. The evening was reported to be a great success.Local resident Hannah Stirling said: “The impact that it has had has been simply incredible. What used to take hours now takes seconds” .
