Grimsargh and Cockerham are both gearing up for their big summer events this Saturday, August 9.
The Grimsargh Flower, Produce and Handicraft Show will be held in the village hall, starting at 2pm.
Bob’s Party Owls will be among the attractions at Cockerham Show, to be held at the village hall, with doors again open to the public at 2pm.
New classes at Grimsargh this year include ones for a plate of summer fruits, a sunflower cut or potted and, in the floral art section, for an arrangement “with bling” .
If you’ve never tried flower arranging and think you have no chance of winning anything, think again as this year the Novice Cup is being awarded in the floral art section. So anyone having a go for the first time might find themselves taking home a trophy.
Photography classes this year have “Seascape”, “Trees”, “Something Fluffy”, “Impressive Architecture” and “Nowt as Queer as Folk” as subjects.
There is also a class for black and white (or monochrome) for those super-artistic shots. Pictures in this class can be on any subject,
Programmes are still available at the post office and village hall. They can also be downloaded from the village hall website.
At Cockerham, organisers are calling on budding painters to showcase their skills and push up the entries for the art section, which was last year poorly supported.
Youngsters are being encouraged to use their imagination and get creative with exhibits, too.
Schedules have been distributed in the village and can be requested by calling 01524 793549 or 752921 or 751592 or 751442.
Admission is £1 and refreshments will be available.
