Ambitious club bosses at Garstang Football Club are hoping to make millionaires of a lucky few as they plough ahead with plans to transform their ground in the heart of town.

A second-phase of the long awaited revamp of the Riverside ground, part of Garstang Sports and Social Club and based off Lancaster Road, will get underway this summer with the installation of further drainage and floodlight cabling.

The £30,000 investment will improve club facilities for wider team use, including the youth team set-up.

The ‘funding pot’ has been helped by Garstang FC’s monthly ‘Score’ lottery campaign but the committee have decided to ‘freshen things up’ with the introduction of a new prize.

An additional nine tickets will be drawn on five occasions this year, with each winner receiving two millionaire National Lottery scratchcards.

Commercial manager and lottery promoter Les Taylor said: “We are always looking at ways to freshen up our lottery even though it has been a major success but we would like to make it even better for the members who have supported us and encourage more to join.” As well as the usual cash prizes starting at £25 to the jackpot £1,000, bonus draws will take place for Easter, the World Cup, Garstang Show, Non-League Supporters Day and the Victorian Festival. The 45 additional winners will receive the scratchcards and the chance of a ‘big money win.’

Club chairman Adrian Wilding said: “Further work will be carried out to level the pitch and depending how far the money goes we will look at a new inner border fence.

“Having a ground with great facilities can only cement that relationship and attract the youngsters to Garstang Football Club.”
