The 18,300 sq.ft. store is being developed by Morbaine Limited of Cheshire. Morbaine is employing Marshall (Building Contractors) Limited from Elland, West Yorkshire to carry out work on site.

It is expected that the store will be handed over to Aldi at the end of 2015 in time for a pre-Christmas opening.

Wyre Council gave approval for the food store to be built on the former Certas Energy and EMO Oil site late last year.

Councillors, were told the development will bring 37 new jobs to the town – 22 full time and 15 part-time posts. Aldi, insisted it will not be competing directly with other local businesses. The mayor was accompanied by Adrian Crossdale (right) from Aldi and building contractor John Marshall.
