GARSTANG FC's record breaking management team have left the club.
First team manager Gary Hargreaves and his assistant Scott Somerside have both announced they have stood down from their positions at Riverside.
Their decision ends a period of uncertainty over their future since Somerside told The Courier nearly a month ago that both he and Hargreaves had yet to decide whether they would continue at the Garstang helm following their remarkable success at the club - culminating in winning the West Lancashire League in their debut season in the Premier Division.
Club official Marc Armstrong confirmed this week that Somerside and Hargreaves had left, and said the search had already started for their successors.
Club treasurer Mr Armstrong said: "They have both stepped down. Obviously we are disappointed they are leaving, but that's football.
"We wish them all the very best and we are extremely grateful for everything they have achieved in the last few years and we respect their decision.''
It is understood that neither Somerside or Hargreaves have yet to take up alternative jobs with other clubs, although their success at Garstang will no doubt make them key targets for sides at West Lancs level and higher up the pyramid.
Wins
The pair took over at Garstang in December 2005 with the club lying second bottom of the West Lancashire League first division, with just two wins out of their 17 games played.
The Hargreaves and Somerside revolution saw them guide Garstang away from the relegation zone to a respectable 10th place that season, and the following year, in their first full season in charge, they steered Garstang to promotion to the West Lancashire League Premier Division.
And in their debut season among the West Lancs elite Garstang stormed to the title, pipping Blackpool Wren Rovers to the top spot on the final day of the campaign.
Mr Armstrong said the club would be holding a meeting to discuss the way forward and how to maintain the momentum and success of the last couple of seasons.
Anyone interested in the vacant manager's position can contact Marc Armstrong on 079088 32886.
