IT is now only three weeks to the start of the cricket season and the 2009 fixtures for the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield have been released.
The opening day on April 18 sees champions Great Eccleston at home to Whittingham and Goosnargh whilst runners-up Vernon Carus travel to Fulwood and Broughton.
Garstang travel to Penwortham and then a week later, in their first home match of the campaign, Garstang play host to Norcross, who return to the top flight after a two year absence.
The seaon could be set for a thrilling climax as the final day sees the top two from last season meet as Great Eccleston travel to Vernon Carus.
In Division One on the opening day, Great Eccleston are at Withnell Fold, while Garstang 2nds kick-off their season in Division Two with a home game against Penwortham 2nd.
In Division Three Great Eccleston 3rds host Withnell Fold 3rd and in Division Four Garstang's third-string face Ribchester at home, before taking on Longridge 3rds in a local derby on April 25.
The Sunday league kicks off on April 19 with Garstang hosting Penwortham and Great Eccleston at home to Norcross, while in the 20/20 West Section Garstang have been drawn to face Thornton Cleveleys and Great Eccleston host Kirkham and Wesham.
The 2009 season sees 80 teams playing on Saturdays in the Palace Shield's seven senior divisions with two Sunday divisions as well as the 20/20 cup played in midweek in the middle of the season.
The three cup competitions have been revamped to give a more even split of numbers. The opening round of the cups take place on May 10, with Garstang travelling to face White Coppice in the Meyler Cup.
