FUN on the soccer pitch and in the classroom was the order of the day when two rural Wyre schools got together to mix matches and maths.
Officials of the S7 Soccer Academy visited SS Mary and Michael RC School, Bonds, for a series of linked soccer and numeracy sessions.
Joining the youngsters at the Bonds school were pupils from St Mary's RC School, Great Eccleston.
A spokesman for SS Mary and Michael said: "The children were so excited by the event, and clearly enjoyed the activities led by the academy's coaches.
"The emphasis on linking maths with football has had a beneficial impact on the children, as they followed up the physical activity with meaningful maths lessons.."
The children are now hoping that the event will be repeated.
