Garstang fm 2
The first leg of the cup saw Garstang paired up against Lancaster whom they beat two weeks ago in the league.
Garstang were missing three key players and Lancaster were at full strength, but Garstang started strongly with Mark Heys linking well down the left with Mark Laws who just shot wide.
Laws was magnificent all game and midway through the first half fed a great ball to Anthony Woods whom in turn played a sublime ball to Adam Franks who rounded two Lancaster defenders and sent the keeper the wrong way.
The second half was a different story. With Garstang legs tiring Lancaster scored two goals late on, the second being a penalty, the fourth Garstang have conceded in as many games. With seconds left Ian Mackean played a long ball forward into the box, the Lancaster keeper collided with substitute Mike Thornton and the ball fortuitously fell to his feet to slot home to make it 2-2 and all to play for in the return leg.
Garstang are slowly but surely starting to play better each week and, with strength in depth of squad and a passion to win, this fairs well for the season.
