West Lancs Reserve Division 1
Garstang Res 4
Tempest United Res 0
Garstang welcomed fifth placed Tempest to a sunny Riverside looking to extend the unbeaten run to eight games.
The home side did not disappoint the sizeable crowd who were entertained to Garstang’s best performance this year. Dominating the early exchanges, Garstang took the lead in the sixth minute when Graham latched on to a through ball from Baldwin and he clinically slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper.
The central midfield trio of Roskell, Swindlehurst and Southward controlled the midfield allowing wing backs Jack and Matichechia to attack time and time again from wide positions.
On 17 minutes Garstang were rewarded with another goal, Panepinto controlled a clearance on the half way line and laid it back to Jack who hit a stunning 40 yard diagonal pass to Matichechia on the right wing, who whipped the ball across for Panepinto to coolly finish.
Garstang led the attack into the second half. Panepinto and Graham were causing the visitors numerous problems and the whole team was playing some excellent football.
Garstang nearly made it three when another cross by Jack was headed just wide by Matichechia.
But it was Panepinto who found the net again, as he tapped home a saved shot by Graham. It was in the final minutes of the game that Garstang drilled home a fourth, Graham putting the ball perfectly into the path of Rocky Roskell who timed the perfect shot from the edge of the box
The win extends Garstang’s unbeaten run to one draw and seven wins in the last eight games.
