The Coar brothers made an instant impact as Garstang opened their pre-season programme on Saturday.

Lee Baker’s boys were 5-3 winners when they met Squires Gate in their opening match ahead of the new West Lancashire League season.

Alan Coar hogged the headlines with four of Garstang’s five goals, brother Rick netting the other.

With Tuesday’s scheduled friendly against Freckleton having been called off, Baker’s men are back in action on Saturday when they meet Padiham in the Adam Swanwick Memorial.

The club has also announced changes to the previously published fixtures for August.

They will now travel to Longridge Town and Hesketh Bank on August 10 and 24 respectively, while they are now at home to Eagley on August 27.
