Garstang FC had another successful evening at last weekend’s annual West Lancashire League awards dinner at Blackpool Football Club.

In addition to being presented with the Richardson Cup runners-up trophy, the first team also received the Premier League Fair Play prize and the reserve team won the division two hospitality award.

A club spokesman said: “We are delighted with the way last season went and these awards show that we are not only ambitious on the field but we are also doing the right things off it.

“There is a lot of work involved in running a football club and we couldn’t do it without the help of our sponsors, supporters and the local community so a big thank you to everyone and we hope you can enjoy our success.”

The Riversiders are also holding a third trial for next season’s Under-18s side.

Taking place on Wednesday, June 21, it will be held at the club’s Riverside ground, High Street, Garstang, beginning at 6.45pm.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend in order to view the facilities, meet senior and youth team management, be given a brief overview of the aims and ambitions of the club and a chance to ask any questions.

After that players will jog down to The Beeches training ground for a session with the coaches.

Players should bring boots, trainers, shin pads and a drink.

To qualify for next season’s younger team, players must be aged under 18 on or before August 31, 2017.

The youth team plays in the Lancashire Sunday League but any youth team player with potential will be given the opportunity to experience adult football either through the reserve team or the senior set-up.

If you can’t make the trial date, or require any further information, contact the club’s youth development officer, Dave Graham, on 07501 119458.
