Myerscough College’s Football Development Centre is celebrating international honours for four of their current students.

Second year National Diploma student, Alex Meaney, has been selected for the English School’s Football Association (ESFA) squad for the 2011 season. Alex was one of 18 students from across the country chosen for their exceptional play, dedication and professionalism. He will join up with the squad for the first time at the end of this month for a match against Loughborough University before attending a training camp in Malaga ahead of the start of the season.

In addition to this, Level 3 Diploma student, Danny Hattersley, and Foundation Degree Football Coaching students, Alex Kenyon and Daniel Gregson, have been called up to represent the England College’s Football Association (ECFA) against Wales on January 31. All three were selected on the back of some excellent performances for the College in 2010.

Myerscough’s Football Development Centre Manager, Phil Brown, commented: “This is excellent news for the College and shows that we are definitely doing the right things in terms of developing young players.

“To represent your country is the highest accolade you can achieve in any sport and we are very proud of all of them.”
