Fulwood Amateurs 0
Longridge Town 2
Longridge hoped to continue their fantastic run with this local derby against Fulwood Amateurs.
With manager Keefe away, Gornall was in charge and he had a full strength squad to choose from.
Town dominated from the off and with the system they were using, looked to get the ball wide to Melling and captain Donnelly with English also finding some areas Going forward the side looked threatening and forced a sequence of corners but Fulwood defended well to keep Longridge at bay.
Even though Longridge were seeing a lot of the ball, Hind in the Longridge goal had to be at his best to keep the scores level when the Fulwood forward latched on to a long ball but his shot was tipped over for a corner.
With five minutes left of the half Longridge went ahead with a superb team goal. Ross played the ball out at the back and Pearson and Donnelly exchanged passes before the ball was fed to Dean who played in his strike partner Coar. He beat his marker, then picked out Heywood who took a touch before slotting home.
Fulwood came back out looking to hit Longridge on the break and it was the home side who had the first chance when a cross was headed goal bound but Hind got down low to grab the ball.
Fulwood enjoyed a good spell of possession but Longridge held firm before starting to look dangerous again. English, St Vall and Coar were all causing problems with their power and pace.
With 10 minutes left Longridge netted a second when English picked the ball up on the right and cut inside two challenges before smashing home a shot right into the top corner.
Another three points and a superb team performance by Longridge who are hitting top form at the moment and will go into next week’s LFA quarter final fixture full of confidence
