Big hitter: Star performer Owen Pye lead his team into second place with a string of victories

Thirteen players from Garstang were in action in the second round of the Bay Schools League on Saturday.

All four Garstang teams finished mid-table in the secondary schools league with Jacob Bywater having a great day playing for Garstang A, winning all 12 of his matches.

In the Primary Schools League Garstang Community Primary B team finished the day in second place, thanks to Owen Pye winning all his eight matches.

Sunday saw the Blackpool 2 Star Tournament with the Dillon sisters having another great day, first Alice won the Under 11s event, closely followed by Megan, winning the Under 13s.

Kelly Southward lost out in the semi-final of the junior girls in a close match with eventual winner Beth Farnworth.

In the Lancaster and Morecambe League, it was cup finals week with Garstang teams in both events.

In the Kennon Plate, the Garstang C team of Thomas Gorst, Joseph Peat and Kevin Aughton lost out to MHS by the narrowest of margins losing in the final end of the final match of the night.

No such problems for Garstang A in the Kennon Trophy, as they achieved a walkover with their opponents Trimpell Raptors unable to field a team.

In the Preston League Premier, Division Garstang A got back to winning ways with a 7-3 victory over Deepdale, Martin Wyatt was unbeaten, Martin Ireland won two and Chris Knowles won one, the final point came with victory in the doubles. In Division One Garstang B achieved the same scoreline with a 7-3 victory over Lyons Lane B, Mike Armishaw won all three Adam Soar won two, and sub Stuart Southward won one, again the Garstang side were victorious in the doubles.
