Flying the flag: Gartstang Amateur Swimming Club where Rob Bale is taking sessions.

Garstang Amateur Swimming Club was one of the local clubs to benefit after Ian Collinson, managing director of C & C Supplies Collinson Ltd, and David Coggin, of Coggins Office Furniture, endured a sponsored cycle ride of over 1,200 miles to raise money for local charities and sports clubs.

The dynamic duo sponsored Rob Bale, a swimmer in the GB Olympic team, to deliver training sessions at the club, giving the swimmers an added dimension to their training. The GASC committee is delighted as the swimmers will benefit from Rob’s expertise

C & C Supplies, Garstang Builder’s and Plumber’s Merchants, also gave the club a lightweight flag for use at galas.

The flag was presented to head coach Susan Booth and three of the club captains last Sunday when Rob delivered his first session.

The swimmers had a great evening with many parents coming along to have a look at the Olympian. Rob will be at the club for three hours once a month until May, and the club thank him for agreeing to take the time out to undertake these sessions in his busy schedule.

Garstang Amateur Swimming Club are always looking for swimmers to join the club, from pre-school age upwards to learn to swim, train, keep fit, and/or compete. There is coaching for beginners to experienced swimmers.

For further information, visit the website, www.garstangasc.org.uk, or pop in to one of the training sessions.
