Rick is hat-trick hero for Town
Rick Coar
Striker Rick Coar was the hat-trick hero as Longridge Town drew 4-4 away to Tempest United on Saturday.
The result keeps up Town’s challenge to Charnock Richard at the top of the West Lancashire League Premier Division.
Charnock now lead the division by one point after their 4-0 win at Vickerstown.
Town were in the lead in their match no less than on four occasions, but in a fast-paced encounter they failed to hang on to the advantage on each occasion.
Coar gave Town the lead after just 20 minutes, only for Tempest to equalise a minute later from the penalty spot.
Coar then put Town back in front after 25 minutes, and after Tempest had levelled again Sam Dean netted to put the local 3-2 up.
After a third Tempest equaliser Coar scored from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time to give Town an interval lead.
However, in the second half Tempest levelled yet again to complete the scoring.
This weekend Town take a break from league action. On Saturday, they are away to Slyne-with-Hest in the quarter finals of the Richardson Cup.
