Moore and Smalley Palace Shield Premier Division
Coen Oosthuysen struck his maiden half-century for the club when Garstang batted before Michael Walling took his first career hat-trick during the Rufford reply.
Garstang won the toss, batted first, and saw Michael Walling (16) and Allan Cook (18) bat solidly without turning their starts into a big score.
Both fell victim to Rufford opening bowler Danny Hodge, who also accounted for Mark Walling (2) and Michael Wellings (1).
Mark Winstanley (3) also fell cheaply, leaving Oosthuysen to stage a recovery for the home side.
He top-scored with an undefeated 62, receiving excellent support from Matthew Crowther (26) and Ian Walling, who was unbeaten on 36 as Garstang closed their 45 overs on 174-6.
Hodge ended with figures of 4-45 from a dozen overs with Richard Hodge collecting the other wickets as he claimed 2-63 from 15 overs.
Garstang enjoyed the ideal start in the field as Ian Walling dismissed David Blundell without scoring.
Fellow opener Rob Kenny top-scored for Rufford with 24 before being bowled by Waris Khan Ahmadzai.
Gregg Ashcroft (14), Nathan Lloyd (13) and John Iddon (15) also made it into double figures but wickets fell at regular intervals.
However, the real damage was done when Michael Walling bowled Liam Nickson (1) before trapping Tom Taylor and Paul Phythian LBW in consecutive deliveries without scoring to register his hat-trick.
Gareth Jennings ended proceedings when he bowled Max Phythian (0) to leave Rufford all out for 91 in the 32nd over.
Walling ended with figures of 3-2 from his solitary over, while Jennings took 2-0 from five overs and Ahmadzai 2-12 from seven.
The other wickets were taken by Ian Walling (1-18), Gilbert (1-20) and Oosthuysen (1-33) as Garstang took away 12 points.
