Making successful progress in the golf world,
Longridge Golf Club’s juniors continue to impress at local and national level.
Anthony Slater finished three shots clear of a field of 35 of the area’s best young golfers to win the North Lancashire Junior Golf Association’s Championship held recently at Leyland Golf Club.
With a one-under-par round of 69, Anthony received the Nick Dougherty Trophy, named after the European Tour professional, whose formative golf is honoured by the association.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Alex Forrest made her first venture onto the national stage when she played the first two rounds of the English Girls’ Open Amateur Championship at Oake Manor Golf Club in Somerset.
In a field of 105 of England’s best young female golfers, Alex recorded rounds of 83 and 89 to gain valuable experience in top-level national competition.
