Garstang School of Gymnastics has been successful in the Greater Manchester Gymnastics 2013 Open Championships.
Four young gymnasts from the school took part in the championships held at the Robin Park Arena in Wigan, competing against gymnasts from all over the country, in various levels and age groups.
Garstang girls Abbie Ogden and Chloe Wojcik competed in the Novice Age 9 age group, Gemma Bradshaw in the Novice Age 10 and Teri Williams in the Level 2 competition.
The standard of gymnastics throughout the competition was said to be extremely high, and the Garstang girls fought hard to overcome any nerves and perform their best routines.
Abbie Ogden came first overall in her age group and was crowned the Novice Age 9 Champion, taking home the overall trophy and gold medal.
Along with the overall title, Abbie also won the gold medal on floor and the bronze medal on bars and beam.
Also in the Novice Age 9 competition, Chloe Wojcik came second on bars taking home the silver medal.
In the Level 2 competition Teri Williams won the gold medal with her stylish performance on the beam and the bronze medal for vault.
The club wishes to congratulate all the gymnasts who took part in the competition, saying: “We are very proud of them all.
“Many thanks to the club’s coaches and judges who helped in preparing the girls for this competition which was another great success for our gymnasts and they are now look forward to training for their next competition.”
