Sunday saw Garstang ladies rugby team host Kendal at Hudson Park in their first ever game and despite the poor weather a good crowd turned out and cheered on the Garstang girls all the way through the match.

Garstang lost two girls due to injury shortly after kick off but the girls didn’t let this put them off and managed to gain a lot of possession of the ball and came close to the try line on several occasions.

Unfortunately Kendal’s wing and centre were unbelievably fast and were able to dart down the pitch to score Kendal’s tries.

Garstang’s first ever try was scored by Liv Servan after fighting her way through Kendals defence. Garstang ladies may not have won their first match but every player put in an incredible effort against an excellent side.

Man of the match went to captain, Rachel German for brilliant defence and support. The girls would like to thank Kendal for a great game as well as Bobby, Roddy, Danny, Richard, Martin and Mike for all their help.
