Longridge Golf Club’s Mark Young’s reign as Lancashire County Golf Champion ended at Hillside Golf Club on Sunday - but his gallant defence ended with a fifth place finish.

His rounds of 73, 75, 77 and 75 gave him a total of 300 – six strokes behind the new Lancashire County Championship winner Haydon McCullen, of Delamere Forest.

Now Mark will be turning his attention to Open Championship qualification alongside further events in the Srixon Northern Order of Merit, which he currently leads.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Morgan played through all three rounds of the English Seniors’ Championship, held at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club.

With two rounds of 77 he made the cut, finishing with a final round of 88.
