Garstang 53-5 St Edward’s Old Boys

North Lancs One

Garstang retained their unbeaten home league record as they put St Edward’s to the sword with a spectacular nine-try performance.

Garstang started the game with intent and soon took the lead with Greg Billington scoring the opening try (7-0).

The lead was soon increased as a terrible fumble by the visitors saw the ball go to ground. Joel Dugdale pounced and hacked through to the line and he outpaced the last man to touch it down (12-0).

Ben Kelsall was playing his first game of the season following a prolonged injury absence and he made his mark as firstly, he set up Joel Dugdale for his second score and then he helped himself to one to send Garstang into the break with a healthy 22-0 lead.

Garstang sealed the win early in the second half as Kieran Davies and Ben Kelsall scored a try apiece (34-0). Despite the fact St Edward’s had endured a miserable afternoon they never gave up and they were rewarded with a consolation try with a few minutes remaining. Stuart Dawson had the final say as he strolled through a tired defence to score his second try (53-5).

Overall, a very satisfying result and a promising.

The 1st XV have no game on Saturday November22 but the Blues are in action at home to Fylde 4ths, K.O. 14:15.
