The year 11 girls netball team at Garstang Community Academy have been applauded by their coach for their recent tournament win.
The team went to Stanley Park in Blackpool to take part in Wyre and Fylde Netball Tournament against nine other teams.
The teams were split into two groups and the top two teams from each group qualified for the semi-finals.
The girls played four games in the group stages and won all four with amazing scores, one in which they had an outstanding result of 14-0.
As a result, the girls qualified for the semi-finals and went on the play Arnold KEQMS 1st where an amazing game unfolded.
Captain Hannah Lawrenson and Sarah Marsden put up a fantastic defence against the opposing team and the girls worked incredibly well as a team to secure a phenomenal win of 7 – 2.
Alicia Clegg and Ruth Marsden worked well together to score a fantastic amount of goals over the entire tournament while wing defence Gemma Leach also put up a tough defence against her opponent.
The girls went through to the final and qualified alongside Baines, who they had previously played in the group stages, winning the match by two goals.
The final was incredibly tense with Jerdine Farrell putting in some unbelievable interceptions. Baines took an early lead, followed by a quick second goal.
Jessica Willshaw and Lauren Hull using their stacking technique at centre passes to ensure they received the ball. Despite their form at half time the girls were 3 -1 down but the game quickly commenced, and the next five minutes were extremely tense .
But by using their space well and keeping possession of the ball the team scoured four more goals to lead them to victory and saw them keep their title of Wyre and Fylde Champions 2014.
