A team of young Garstang swimmers have picked up a large haul of medals at a regional competition.
Five promising swimmers from Garstang Swimming Club competed in the first Blackpool Lights Swim Meet.
The swimmers, all girls, picked up eight medals and eight speeding tickets at the Palatine Pool, racing against club rivals from across the north-west.
Team manager Steve Eccles praised the girls for their achievements, with all team members having recorded personal bests.
He said: “A final total of eight speeding tickets and eight medals, combined with personal best times in every event these girls entered, speaks for itself. These are just rewards for the continued dedication and effort the girls put into their training.”
The Garstang team included Ellie Moss, Abbie Hewitt, Kiera Richmond, Jessica Critchley and Natalie Charlesworth.
Racing in the Under-14s age group, Ellie Moss picked up three golds across five events, in 100m and 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.
She also picked up fourth place in the 50m butterfly and was seventh in 100m freestyle, recording personal best times in all her events.
Abbie Hewitt also swam five events in the Under-13s category.
She was presented with speeding tickets –recording times that are deemed too fast for the age group – in the 50m breaststroke and 100m backstroke.
She picked up gold in the 200m individual medley, silver in 100m breaststroke and bronze in 200m freestyle, recording five personal bests.
In the Under-11s age group, Kiera Richmond earned silver in the 100m and 200m breaststroke. Kiera also entered the 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley
Jessica Critchley, competing in the 10 years category, also clocked up personal bests in the 200m breaststroke and backstroke.
Youngest swimmer Natalie Charlesworth, competing in the nine years age group, was rewarded with four speeding tickets in the 50m breaststroke and butterfly, plus the 200m freestyle and individual medley.
